848 7832 It has been discovered that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo plays soccer in a 6-on-6 recreational soccer league in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:state w:st="on">Texas</st1:state></st1:place>.   <o:p> </o:p> Not only is Romo’s playing in the league risking serious injury, he could also be risking his $67 million contract with the Cowboys.   <o:p> </o:p> The Cowboys however do not seem too concerned. A representative for the team said that Romo has been playing in off-season basketball and soccer leagues in the area every off season ever since he became an NFL player. <o:p> </o:p> He did not sound to be too surprised by the fact, so the Cowboys must not have anything in Romo’s contract forbidding him from participating in any off-season sports. <o:p> </o:p> This is surprising considering that even a minor injury, or God forbid, a serious injury, could seriously affect their franchise quarterback and his ability to play football for the Cowboys.    This is rather humorous considering that the soccer league requires all of their players to sign an injury waiver prior to being allowed to play. This is even with the fact that according to the leagues rules, slide tackling and the use of cleats are strictly forbidden. 90 7526 Dallas Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware is scheduled for surgery on Thursday to shave down a bone spur on his left foot.  Ware put of the surgery until this Thursday because he wanted to play in the Pro Bowl. Ware battled injuries most of the season, but still managed to lead the team with 11 sacks and led the entire NFL in quarterback pressures.  Ware sustained a severely sprained neck against the San Diego Chargers on December 13th and had to be carted off the field on a stretcher.  Ware was expected to miss a few games due to the injury, but managed to come back and play the following week against the New Orleans Saints. Ware suffered from other injuries, such as back stiffness, a stress fracture in his left foot and a chipped bone in his left wrist.  Despite all of the injuries, he managed to start every game and finished the season with 57 tackles and five forced fumbles. 76.97.188.228

131 7373 Former Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin has fired back at a claim of sexual assault with a $100 million countersuit that claims the civil suit filed by a woman last week caused him to be fired from his job as an ESPN radio host in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.   ESPN terminated the contract the day after the suit was filed against Irvin, although the network said the network claims it had nothing to do with these new allegations and that the decision was made already to fire Irvin.   "This is nothing more than a thinly veiled effort to carry out plaintiff's extortion plot while capitalizing on the media circus that is Super Bowl weekend," Irvin's lawsuit said, according to <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/news/story?id=4889392">ESPN</a> .   The latest accusation against Irvin stems from an alleged incident in July 2007. Filed only days before Super Bowl XLIV in Florida, the unnamed woman's civil suit filed in Broward County Circuit Court claims Irvin sexually assaulted her at a South Florida hotel, according to ESPN. The suit seeks unspecified damages for the incident that allegedly occurred July, 2007, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla.   The plaintiff had reported the incident to police in 2007 but later signed a waiver of prosecution "to put the case behind her," a Seminole tribe police spokesman told <a href="http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/35258543/ns/sports/">The Associated Press</a> . There was no physical evidence of the alleged incident because the woman waited more than two weeks to report it. No hotel surveillance video exists either officials said.   The allegations are still being investigated. 177 7242 Dallas Cowboys starting fullback Deon Anderson was arrested in the early Tuesday morning by <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Addison</st1:city>, <st1:state w:st="on">Texas</st1:state></st1:place> police on traffic warrants which were discovered after they were called to a disturbance between Anderson and a restaurant staff.   Two weapons were also found and confiscated at the scene and <st1:city w:st="on">Anderson</st1:city>'s car was impounded for further investigation according to a statement from the <st1:place w:st="on">Addison</st1:place> police department. 93 7040 Blowout, blowout, blowout, close game.  Plenty of missed field goals. Wait, that was wildcard weekend.  This week, more of the same.  The first three games were over by halftime.  The first lead change in the second half came in the final game.       New York Jets 17 San Diego Chargers 14 When the Jets took over the lead, they did not give it back.  Also, last week, the Packers and Cardinals were in a high scoring game with a record set for points scored.  The Jets and Chargers combined for 31 points.  Six teams outscored that combined total in the past two weeks.  17 points is the fewest scored by a winning team.  The Jets are now two for two in road games, winning with rookie contributions at running back with Shonn Greene and quarterback with Mark Sanchez.  First year coach Rex Ryan has claimed the Jets should be the favorites in the whole tournament.  He now has an appointment in the AFC Championship Game to prove it.  For the Chargers, it marks the end of an 11 game winning streak and another playoff disappointment.  Three missed field goals had an obvious effect.  Has anyone ever seen so many missed field goals through the first two weeks?     Minnesota Vikings 34 Dallas Cowboys 3 Remember all the controversy of Brett Favre coming back?  If you don't, here is a link to <a href="http://www.vikespeak.com/articles?page=3">Minnesota's fan articles on Playerpress</a>.  Should he come back?  Should he stay retired?  Now, Brett is on his way to the NFC Championship again.  One of the worst stats this week was that Favre was 0-3 against the Cowboys in the playoffs.  If you combine that with the stat from last week about how the Dallas losing streak in the playoffs, then it is clear that those Favre struggles were against the 1990s Dallas dynasty, and even before Favre won a Super Bowl.  Obviously, it had no effect on today's blowout.     Indianapolis Colts 20 Baltimore Ravens 3 Both Saturday games were essentially over by halftime.  The Colts beat the Ravens 20-3, but were already up 17-3 at the half.  Peyton Manning and the Colts had a history of struggling in the playoffs after having a first round bye.  It was well known that Baltimore would struggle if they fell behind.  Four turnovers did not help their cause.  What we learned is that the Colts will host the AFC Championship next week.  The opponent, either the Chargers or the Jets, is yet to be determined.  The Colts broke the hearts of Baltimore 25 years ago.  On Saturday, they ended their playoff run for 2010.     New Orleans Saints 45 Arizona Cardinals 14 Tim Hightower scored on the first play of scrimmage for the Cardinals.  Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, and the Saints then scored three touchdowns in a row and the teams were off and running.   But this game was also just about over by the half, the Saints holding a 35-14 lead.  They say "defense wins championships".  The Arizona defense gave up 70 points between the final two quarters in the first round and the first two quarters in the divisional round.  Now, Arizona Quarterback <a href="http://www.comcast.net/articles/sports-nfl/20100117/Cardinals-Warner_s.Future/?CID=Net_Sportshero">Kurt Warner is faced with a decision about retirement</a>.  New Orleans is preparing to face the winner of Sunday's playoff between the Vikings and Cowboys.       Coming up Next Sunday The Jets return to the scene of the crime.  The crime was week 15, when the Colts quit on the perfect season and gave the Jets a victory that helped them separate themselves from the other teams in the 9-7 mess in the AFC.  Interesting, if the Colts beat the Jets next week, then we can begin to think about what might have been if they had not quit in week 15.  Meanwhile, the Saints host the Vikings in a battle that features the two teams that were the best in the NFC from start to finish.  Sure, the Packers and Cowboys were hotter at the end of the season, but both of those teams came up short in the playoffs.     A look at the Playerpress picks... I love the challenge that this organization brings. He’s fast and shifty and can give you a really hard time if you’re not prepared for him. He’s my favorite wide receiver to guard and brings a challenge every play. 185 6819 Coaches and players of the Dallas Cowboys will tell you they are no longer thinking about what happened in their season finale one year ago after being annihilated by Philadelphia.  It might be true, but no matter how hard they try, the game has to be running through their minds. A victory and season sweep of the visiting Eagles will definitely make everyone forget the sour ending of 2008, and it would also clinch a home game in the wild-card round of next week's playoffs.   There are some key differences such as Dallas not having to win after already clinching a playoff berth. That said, the Eagles are riding high and looking for their seventh straight win. Not only that, they could possibly clinch a first-round bye, making already the NFC's hottest team even more of a Super Bowl threat should it be fortunate enough to get a breather.   The Cowboys on the other hand could very well host Philadelphia two straight weeks, but first things first. They have something to prove, and an NFC East title would be nice for a team we all had questions about early in the year. This was the same group needing overtime to win at Kansas City.   One must also look at the bigger picture, as "America's Team," a group aspiring for nothing less than a Super Bowl berth every year hasn't won a playoff game since beating Minnesota in 1996. Dallas must take the old-fashioned, one-game-at-a-time attitude and not worry about possibly facing the Eagles for a third time next week after losing two years ago to the eventual Super Bowl champion Giants in the first round after beating them twice in the regular season.   The Cowboys have done some good things of late, but they can't afford to fall short of the end zone as they did against San Diego. They must play the way they did at New Orleans, Washington and earlier in the year at Philly, and there's no reason they can't capture their 17th division title and enter the playoffs on an emotional high.   Will they be able to kick a field goal if the game comes down to it? It's something you must look closely at after the team acquired a kicker it released three years ago. There's a reason Shaun Suisham was on the waiver wire, but that's a story for another time.   It's the experience of Donovan McNabb and Philadelphia against Tony Romo and company, who are trying to take the next step. Dallas hopes to win and have Arizona hold its own at home against Green Bay and New York win at Minnesota for its best possible scenario entering crunch time next week in the playoffs. 76.97.188.228

Most importantly, we are playing as one accord and finishing strong. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Me on the other hand, I am really grateful to be in this situation. Coming into the season I was battling with <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Orlando</st1:city></st1:place> to be a starter, and I definitely think that made me work harder and made me a better player. <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Orlando</st1:city></st1:place> pushed me to my limit to make me a better player and likewise. 170 6647  I’m always interested when some of these so-called experts try to convince the rest of us that a team has no chance in hell in winning a game.  <div>That’s the case today with the Dallas Cowboys vs. the New Orleans Saints. The New Orleans Saints SHOULD beat the Dallas Cowboys; after all they are undefeated and have the better team. But don’t count out the Boys just yet. </div> <div> </div> <div>The Cowboys problems of late haven’t been on offense, it’s been mainly on defense. The Cowboys secondary has been eaten alive the last few weeks by the likes of Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers. To honest, I expect the same tonight with Drew Brees. </div> <div> </div> <div>But Cowboy quarterback Tony Romo, has played pretty well in both losses. The offense has pretty much kept the Cowboys in games, but it has been the defense that has let the Boys down. Against the Chargers last week, Dallas was in the red zone several times and had a chance to take the lead. But bad play calling and a bad kicker cost the Cowboys that game. </div> <div> </div> <div>Ok, you say to yourself if you that’s true, then how is it that the Cowboys have a chance in this game; the Saints defense. The Saints high powered offense, basically has kept the Saints undefeated to this point. </div> <div> </div> <div>If they can’t stop anyone, the offense just outscores them. Ask the Washington Redskins. A few weeks ago, the Saints were on the verge of losing because they were unable to stop the Redskin offense. 172 6328 We got a couple days off after our big Thanksgiving Day win over the Raiders at home. It was good to have that time because it allowed me to eat a real Thanksgiving dinner with my family. My mom, dad and baby brother came to visit, but I did most of the cooking. I showed them how we do it down here in the D. I haven't been able to spend Thanksgiving with Dominique since before he got into the league, but it's tough to get together during the season on different teams.<o:p></o:p>  I ate way too much, but those couple of days off helped me to work off that extra weight and get my legs back under me. The extra time was nice, but the time before a Thursday game is real tough. You have to cram a week's worth of preparation into pretty much three days to get ready for that next opponent.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> We got a big day on the ground from myself, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice. Having three guys in the backfield who can all get it done is a huge benefit for us. Felix broke a long touchdown run and that guy can rumble with the best of them. There's pretty much no point in trying to catch him from behind.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> We travel to play the Giants next and it's important that we treat it just like every other game. It's a game we have to win and that's our goal. I think we're playing pretty well right now, but we can always get better. The only thing we can do in order to stay on top of our division is to win the next game. 405 6033 I know I haven’t been here on the site in a while, sorry. I’m just trying to stay focused on the season, trying to be team-oriented. We’re trying to get our chemistry right. We go out as a team together every Thursday night and the guys have been spending a lot of time together, that’s why I’ve been so busy.<o:p></o:p>  We have had way better communication lately, especially between the offense and the defense, and I think that is translating onto the field. It’s really helping us on both sides of the ball. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> I’ve been picking Romo’s brain a lot, every week. All he does is study quarterbacks to try to pick up ways where he can get better. I feel like as far as he’s studying quarterbacks, that can be an asset to me. I ask him what he knows about the quarterback we’re about to face, Eli Manning, Donovan McNabb, and he breaks them down for me. He knows their weaknesses and strengths, when they’ll check down. It’s been a big help.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Other players also have been communicating better. Jason Witten will ask DeMarcus Ware about certain guys on defense, will this guy chip me coming off the edge, that kind of thing. <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> You need all the help you can get in this league. Especially someone like me, who had done nothing coming out of college except man-to-man defense. I didn’t think anything of it, just put me in front of my guy and let me cover him. But there’s so much to learn that can make you a better player, like knowing how being on the short side of the field can change the kind of routes the receivers run.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> As a defense we’ve gotten a lot better since the season started. We lost the first couple games by a few points and we felt like it was on us because it came down to stopping the two-minute offense. The last couple games we won, and I feel like the defense played a role in shutting the other team down in the last two minutes. So we’ve shown a lot of improvement.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> We had a big win against the Eagles and we’re really gaining confidence. It’s tough to go to Philly and come out with a win because the crowd is real tough. Win or lose, their fans are going to be on you.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> We’re at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Green Bay</st1:city></st1:place> this weekend and it will be another tough crowd. My first stop, even before team meetings, will be at the QB room. 288 5949 We're playing pretty well right now. We got our third win in a row against <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Seattle</st1:city></st1:place> last week. It was great to get that win and now we're getting ready for Philly. Even though it's a division game it's no different for me. I get wired for every game we play.<o:p></o:p>  My left thumb is still a little bit jammed from our game in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Kansas City</st1:city></st1:place>. I jammed it pretty good during pass protection but it's alright now. It doesn't affect my ability to carry the ball or anything.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Miles Austin has been coming up big for us recently and it's no surprise to anyone on the team. He's been balling out there and he's gonna continue to do so. We have a lot of guys who can produce and it's a great feeling. We have three guys in the backfield who are all dangerous too. That's a big plus for us because we work really well together. Nobody worries about who gets the touches, we all just want to win. There's no jealousy.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> We're on the road for the next two games but we can't really worry about that. Once I'm on the field I don't notice anything about where we are anyway. Arod the ultimate lightening bolt of conterversy over his 6 year Yankee career is now 1 win away from washing all the bad away. A super talent in a pressure cooker City with skyhigh expectations is finally realizing his destiny. This dramatic turn of events should give another franchise and its star player hope. That player is Tony Romo and the team the Dallas Cowboys.       From the second Romo set foot on the field he has been a huge difference maker for the Dallas Cowboys. Romo sets apart the Cowboy franchise from many medicore franchises in the league right now. If you question that let me throw one comparison out there that is very close to home for me (Redskin fan). If the Redskins and Cowboys swapped QB's would Cowboys even be a 8-9 win team?     Romo like Arod has had his share of postseason failures, which have been analyzed and critiqued many times over. In my opinion, Romo also shares another thing with Arod, his fan base has been insanely over critical of his play . Cowboy fans don't know how good they have it with Romo.   This is a league were Rookie QB's START DAY ONE ! Its a league that still has Jarmarcus Russell still starting--- sort of. Romo is an upper echelon QB standing right there below Peyton, Brees and Brady , i'm not saying hes 4th but he's right up there.     Time and again a certain chorus of misquided Cowboy fans have ranted and raved "We will never win with this guy". Boy does that sound familar, ask Arod.  Arod has proven if you continue to get your opportunities eventually your talent will prevail. With that being said, Romo needs two more key ingredients to have the same Post season turnaround .     The Cowboy supporting cast needs to be better in clutch spots and Romo needs Kate Hudson in his life.  Kate Hudson is taken so the Cowboy supporting cast needs to step up big and trust me Romo will do his share.   Talent always prevails.           72.89.118.253

Has the Texans finally broken through into the collective NFL fans consciousness? Have the Chargers thrown in the towel already? Will the Saints keep up this record pace? Can the Cowboys save Wade Phillips job? On to the picks   San Francisco at Houston- The Texans introduced themselves to the 2009 NFL season with the convincing win at Cincinnati. The 49ers are coming off the bitter taste of two straight losses followed by a bye. The game might come down to the RB with the bigger day. Steve Slaton and Frank Gore are both vocal points of their respective offenses.   But when you match-up the receivers…give me WR Andre Johnson. A top three receiver in the league has been killing DB’s and safeties all year with 572 yards and four TDs. The 49ers counter with the NFL debut of Mr. Mike Crabtree. Hmmmm Texans 24-16   Green Bay at Cleveland- The Packers just had two bye weeks in a row after a week off and Detroit. The Browns have been struck by the flu bug this week, with up to 12 players catching it. Unfortunately QB Derek Anderson is just fine. Packers 28-10   San Diego at Kansas City- Times are tough for the Chiefs when they are sitting 0-3 at Arrowhead. The Chargers are playing on short rest with a couple of players lacking in the effort department. It’s not rocket science to figure out that L.T. and Shawne Merriman are free agents at the end of the year and both see the writing on the wall. Chiefs 23-21   Indianapolis at St. Louis- Short trip for Manning and Co. where half the stadium could will be filled with Colts fans. So the Colts are coming off a bye, in a semi-home game, against a winless Rams team with Kyle Boller? Colts 32-14   Minnesota at Pittsburgh- The Steelers are favored but the Vikes have the undefeated record. The Steelers are officially a passing team now, but the D can still stop the run. Adrian Peterson will be contained and this is the week Favre gets exposed Steelers 24-22   New England vs. Tampa Bay- This game is in the old England not the new one so the Bucs lose a home game and the Pats get rid of a road game. But wouldn’t the fans root against the Patriots? Patriot is a bad word over there. The Buccaneers pull off the upset of the year Bucs 21-20   New York (A) at Oakland- Jets coach Rex Ryan said he is simplifying the playbook for rookie QB Mark Sanchez. This game will also be played in the California sun, his old stomping grounds. The Jets D is still a force and WR Braylon Edwards is getting more comfortable in the offense. Jets 17-7   Buffalo at Carolina- Who cares about this one? Well I wouldn’t completely disregard the Panthers just yet. They are 2-3 and filled with veterans that have plenty of experience winning. As for the Bills and their 1-0 QB Ryan “crazy legs” Fitzpatrick? No hope at all. Panthers 24-17   Chicago at Cincinnati- The Benson bowl. RB Cedric Benson seeks revenge on his old team that he says, “black-balled him”, as does DT Tank Johnson. The Bears O-line is crumpling. Orlando Pace killed his team with that fourth down penalty in the fourth quarter last week.   Benson now claims that he's not looking for revenge and won't try to send a message. Right…. based on how Benson has been playing when he isn't pissed off, I’m interested to see what he'll do with even more motivation. And give me Palmer over Cutler everyday of the week Bengals 27-23   Falcons at Dallas- The Cowboys are fresh off their bye and QB Tony Romo is in dire need of a huge game. The Falcons are coming off an emotional win against the Bears. In a high scoring affair, it will be the Cowboys D that makes the biggest play.  Too bad Jerry Jones didn’t jump at the Bengals offer of WR Chris Henry and a No. 2 pick for TE Martellus Bennett. Would have helped both teams out big time. Cowboys 33-30   New Orleans at Miami- Great spot for a let down for QB Drew Brees and the Saints. Coming off a huge win against the Giants, the Saints are riding high. The Dolphins are coming off a bye, which allows them to throw some new wrinkles into the wildcat offense. Call me crazy, but this Chad Henne guy aint so bad. Call me insane, but I like the Fins in this one Dolphins 24-23   Arizona at New York (N)- Let history show that QB Kurt Warner is not a good QB in the wind. He never played well with the Giants because half the games were played at a extremely windy stadium. The cold weather will also be a factor for the sunny-side Cardinals. Not to mention the pissed-off factor of the Giants getting trounced last week Giants 27-19   Philadelphia at Washington- I am so sick of hearing about the job status of Jim Zorn. Dan Synder will wait till the end of the year to fire him, so can we all just stop talking about it? The worst thing to happen for the Skins is that the Eagles were just embarrassed by the Raiders. 227 5739 It's always good to get a win, and it was real important to get one going into our bye. I didn't do much during the time off, mostly laid low and rested up. I'm not banged up or anything, it's just always good to get some rest when you can. I got a few extra massages in and my quad is no longer a problem.<o:p></o:p>  I was able to go do some work for the Barber Foundation a couple weeks ago. Me and my brother Dominique participate in that together. I went out to <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">South</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Oak</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Cliff</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">High School</st1:placename></st1:place> and worked with Group Excellence. They work with inner city kids and get them tutoring and I just wanted to help out. I'm hoping that I can visit a different high school every week to help kids out.<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> The last two years I've held football camps free of charge for inner city kids back in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:state w:st="on">Minnesota</st1:state></st1:place>. We were at <st1:placename w:st="on">North</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">High School</st1:placetype> in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Minneapolis</st1:city></st1:place> both years. It's a good way to give back to kids who might not have the opportunities I had. There has been a good turnout at both camps which is great.
